I just finished visiting with an LDS Church Missionary that is participating in a pre-test of Beta 2 of "new FamilySearch" this pre-beta testing began last week. This portion of testing will last for 4 weeks, three are remaining. So we can see that we are starting to see movement towards Beta 2. I have no idea how much tweaking will need to go on before they start the actual Beta 2. Right now we know it will be no sooner that 3 weeks from now. The site has been down more than it's been up so we know there are still major fixes going on.

Since the site was down when we tried to sign on I could only see the opening page. I am so tempted to give you the website address so you can look at the opening page but I have no idea if you could really register and sign up as a user there. I've tried with my church membership number and confirmation date but it keeps sending me an error. My husband tried his and we still got the same error. I'm thinking it has the volunteers records only pre-loaded so no one else can try. Just so I don't give programmers grief with everyone trying to log on I decided it was wisdom not to share.

I can tell you that instead of saying "Family Tree" the page now opens to "FamilySearch - Where Generations Meet". The lettering and sign in button appear larger. I'm sure this is to accommodate any user vision requirements. For now that's all the news. Wish it was up so I can take a peak at things. Anyways, for now we know there is movement going on. I'll let you know if I hear anything else.

See ya tomorrow, for tomorrow is always another genealogy day!
